Historic Building and Connections to Poldark

Steeped in history, our Georgian building has been home to some very interesting characters over the last 400 years.

The real life ‘Poldark’ Captain of Wheal Leisure used Rose in Vale as his winter residence. Our Capain Whitford Quarters signature room is named in his honour and was his bedroom.

If you enjoy a little bit of history and intrigue don’t miss our history wall!

"The room/bathroom was excellent as was the food and service.
This is a family run hotel and therefore, the quality of service is second to none,
nothing is too much trouble and there is always a smiling face to be seen.
We shall be booking a return visit soon!"

"We keep going back, it so nice and quiet, exclusively adults which is really good,
all the staff are friendly. Its a nice place to relax in lovely grounds, my wife loves
a swim in the pool. It's great as a base for getting around Cornwall."

"We had a lovely stay. Breakfast was lovely and the rooms were clean.
It was a great base to travel to different parts of Cornwall."

"The location was excellent, deep in the country and yet within easy range
of Truro and the North Cornish coast and the food was first class."

"We stayed for the 4 night Christmas package and had a very pleasant trip,
the superior room was spacious and comfortable, with a massive bed
and the staff were delightful!"

"I really appreciate being able to call and discuss which room is best for us. I called another hotel in Cornwall and realised I was talking to a call centre. They didn't seem to know about the local area. You've all been so friendly, I'm really looking forward to meeting you in July! "
